Preservation
Slow work on old iron.
Four active projects, one finished lens, and a waiting list of things we would start tomorrow with the funding.
What is on the bench
Skerrow Point lens re-silvering
The first-order lens came down in panels in 2025. Ana Reyes-Lund and two contract opticians are eleven months into re-silvering; the last two panels go back up next spring.
Brindle Rock causeway re-bedding
The tidal causeway loses pointing mortar every winter. A three-year program of repointing, done only at the two lowest tides of the month.
Old Halloway lantern museum
Re-hanging the museum's 1891 clockwork so it can turn again, plus new interpretive cases for the keeper's logbooks.
Cape Perrin fog signal house
The diaphone works; the house does not. Roof, doors and compressed-air lines, estimated at $86,000, fully scoped and waiting on funding.
How we work
Every project gets a condition survey, a scope, and a budget published in the annual report before a dollar is spent. Volunteers do what volunteers can safely do; licensed trades do the rest. We do not sell, lease, or lease-back a single tower, and we do not accept funding with strings that touch the lantern room.
