Every tower earns its own habits. Old Halloway Light teaches visitors the same lesson each season: the coast does not care about your schedule, and the people who work here have made peace with that.
What a visit looks like
Grounds and tower open on the published season days. Volunteer guides meet you at the gate, tell you the tower's grounding stories, and send you up or out depending on the weather. If the lamp room is working that day, you will see it from behind the rope line, exactly where a keeper would want you.
Why it matters
The Meridian Coast lost two towers to demolition before the trust stood up. Old Halloway Light survives because people pay admission, join as members, and show up to paint in November. That is the whole economics of it.
